June 28th 2000 - CJPY press conference
CANA Director William Spring speaking at a press conference to launch ‘Campaign for Justice for the People of Yugoslavia’, an initiative supported by two other groups as well as CANA, Justin, & Planning for Peace, today called for Mr Blair to be put on trial before a focus group composed of evangelical Christians presided over by Graham Kendrick . This is in view of Mr Blair’s pending discovery of charismatic slap happy hands in air slide projector prosperity gospel version of Christianity & in view of the fact that every other forum seems closed; as the secular Courts won’t try him perhaps this idea of an ecclesiastical tribunal is worth exploring.
Last May 99 during the NATO air war I tried to get Mr Blair, Mr Cook & George Robertson before Highgate Magistrates Court laying an information that these Ministers had breached various provisions of the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act & section 5 of the Criminal Justice Terrorism & Conspiracy Act 1998. Undue influence put upon the stipendiary Magistrate meant that the summonses were not issued - the Magistrate saying I did not have enough evidence.
We will try again of course maybe in Scotland where the Magistrates there have a more robust attitude towards determining the crimes of the executive, but for now the Court system is closed, & the failure of Carla del Ponte, the prosecutor at the Hague War Crimes Tribunal to sanction a prosecution of NATO leaders closes off options; hence my suggestion of some sort of spiritual trial of Tony Blair.
Those who are taken in a fault should, the scriptures say, be restored, by those of us who are spiritual. I can just imagine Tony meeting the elders, his conscience deeply troubled, then after prayer,confession of faults, a fresh start, beaming, Tony Blair arises a new man. He obviously needs pastoral care; for individuals & PMs it is very difficult to admit you’ve made a balls up & the British Government has made a thorough balls up of the Balkans, but however deep his contrition, I’m afraid it won’t bring back Anna Bjeletic or her husband.
May I quote from this letter received from a Baptist Minister in Yugoslavia at the time of the war: "This morning a south bound train passing through Lescovac was hit by several missiles. My school friend Ann was on it. So was her husband. They both burned to death, We went to the same grammar school. Ana’s father is a well known & respected teacher. His daughter Ana got married in mid March. Because of the situation they couldn’t visit her husband's relatives in the south. But as it is Easter Monday they decided to make a day’s trip to Han. After all the roads & railways were safe especially during daytime. But not this morning. My friends I can’t understand such deeds. There were no war criminals, no serial killers on that train, only common passengers...."
What was the purpose of the bombing of that train? What was the purpose of the bombing of the tv station in Belgrade. These were the methods of frightfulness that the Nazis adopted during WW2; now our own Government, without declaration of war, engages in the same activity for what end? To resolve the situation in Kosovo? But you don’t resolve the religious & political divisions in northern Ireland by dropping a bomb on Leeds.
The facts are that the US & UK Govts used the situation in Kosovo & the plight of the Albanians in Kosovo as pawns in their strategic game. They provided good photo opportunities. Now their utility is over; the Albanians must be returned to their irradiated homeland. We have made a desert & we have called it peace.
To return to the bombing of the tv station you realise who was responsible for that, I mean the terrible loss of life & civilian deaths. Answer, naturally --- President Milosevic. Quoting Tony Blair, from a television programme screened on the BBC March 12th: "They could have moved those people out of the building. They knew it was a target & they didn’t & that’s probably for very clear propaganda reasons..."
But did they know it was a target? NATO had assured an international journalistic association based in Brussels that tv stations etc would not be targeted. Mr Blair seems to blame the Serbs for believing these assurances. What an amazing evasion of moral responsibility. On the basis of his own reasoning Mr Blair seems no better, indeed a lot worse, than the spokesman of any other terrorist gang.
What is this meeting about? What does Campaign for Justice for the People of Yugoslavia actually want? Well, first we want our politicians to come clean about this war. We’re fed up of lies, evasions, half truths & the propensity of Tony Blair to move away, to get on to other things. We must say: you must come back to this point, to this thing. Truth will out.
It took 12 years for the truth about the Suez adventure to emerge. The truth about Raceck & the negotiations at Rambouillet are coming out a little earlier. The war seemed to have been arranged at least of August 1998 when the former head of MI6’s Vienna station, Paddy Ashdown, returned to London, to deliver a report to Tony Blair on the situation in Kosovo, which recommended military action.
Shortly after that, UK armour started leaving England for Macedonia. But a casus bellum had to be established. William Walker CIA operative & one time Ambassador to El Salvador was then sent to Kosovo to head up the OSCE monitoring forces. His job was to run the KLA, as he had helped run the contras in Central America in the 80’s, & in that capacity covered up the murder of 8 Jesuits by Govt forces in Honduras.
Walker organised the Raceck massacres, using bodies left over from earlier encounters. He then reported to Madelaine Albright, who in turn reported to Holbrooke: "Spring has come early in the Balkans."
From then everything was predictable: the farce of the negotiations at Rambouillet, the demand by NATO that it occupy the entire country of Yugoslavia. Presentational diplomacy, with terms which could not conceded to by any sovereign state. Everything was on schedule, The bombing had to begin before Easter. The campaign needed to be done & dusted before the winter snows set in.
This is the most appalling story & it’s incredible that the House of Commons has not been capable of researching it or coming to appropriate conclusions.
I refer to the House of Commons Select Committee report published a few days ago. This report said that UK was probably in breach of international law, but then went on to say that the NATO action was justified anyway, & the West was morally obligated to bomb Serbia. Donald Anderson in his belief that international agreements can just be torn up, as so many scraps of paper, presents an anarchic model to the world, which may yet succeed in destroying civilisation entirely.
International law is based upon international agreements to which the UK has put its signature. Donald Anderson’s Committee which unanimously agreed that war can be initiated in contravention of international law is talking the language of yob speak.
What message do these post modern ethics give to football hooligans? We, say MPs, can ignore the law, & bomb at will; but you mustn't. These are the ethics of the Brick Lane bomber.
On the Committee which reached this unanimous conclusion, was one Diane Abbott. I thought she was on our side. Someone of the Left. But in New Labour, even the Left is made in Tony Blair's own image. With friends like these who needs enemies?
What we want is an end to the state of war which exists between Great Britain & Yugoslavia & between Great Britain & Iraq. I have no love for Saddam Hussein; he did, indirectly, try to kill me in 1991, & an Iraqi missile went over my head, about 300 feet up, floating down the road to where it killed a numbers of Third Country Nationals. But because they were TCNs they're not in the casualty figures for the Gulf War.
If anyone had said to me in 1991 that nine years on, the RAF would still be bombing Iraq virtually every night, that sanctions would still be imposed on the Iraqui people, when as we know from Scott Ritter, the Iraquis are effectively disarmed, I would have said they were mad.
The precision bombing of the RAF even succeeds in targeting churches: Iraq of course allows religious toleration, in Middle Eastern terms it’s pluralist country, therefore like Yugoslavia, an appropriate target for out of area operations by NATO.
But I notice The Universe, August 22nd 1999, carried a report re a bombing attack on Iraq which had succeeded in damaging St Matthew's tomb, part of an ancient monastery near Mosul. I think this is a major accomplishment for the RAF; although Iraq is pluralist & there are churches there, I don’t suppose they are very thick on the ground, on every street corner, not like pubs in Aston, or mosques in Riyadh.
So to hit a church, where the bones of St Matthew are housed, is pretty good.
Of course in Kosovo the destruction of churches has been far greater; almost a hundred churches destroyed or desecrated, many containing priceless icons & medieval works of art - vandalism by the West on a scale unparalleled in European history, a vandalism which has been covered up, never reported, like so many other things about this war.
Our new campaign demands a thorough enquiry, particularly looking at when censorship began at the BBC & the role of William Walker, and if, after the enquiry is concluded, it is established that the allies provoked the war, which they did, then a war guilt clause should be signed & reparations paid to Yugoslavia, & of course sanctions lifted on both Yugoslavia & Iraq.

In the campaign for justice for the
peoples of yugoslavia
"CANA condemns BBC non
coverage of negative developments in Kosovo,
including the recent KLA/CIA bombing of the house of the Yugoslav
representative in Pristina Mr Vukicevic, which led to the death
of his
driver Goran, who died after six hours with both legs blown off.
"Also the failure to report the death of 4 roma people,
heads of families,
in Doshevetz 13 miles west of Pristina on 9th November, &
many other
deaths,including six ethnic Albanians & a serbian in one
village.
"No words can possibly express the contempt we feel for the
BBC's
journalists/official media /new labour party hacks/& media
apparatchiks for
their continued acquiescence in state control of output; (their
refusal to
consider strike action during the NATO war when NATO bombed the
Belgrade
television station was perhaps the lowest point in British
journalism ever,
only exceeded by their failure to report the mass demonstration
outside the
BBC over that incident.)
"What information has been given to the British public about
this continued
pogrom of roma, serb & jewish people from kosovo + the
destruction of
churches of Kosovo, (many of them medieval & of immense
cultural
value),under the eyes of NATO troops, & with apparently the
tacit support of
the UN authorities & an ineffectual M. Kouchner.
" He should resign: these are desperate days of shame for
any Europeans with
a residual sense of decency, but not for Tony Blair & Robin
Cook who are
both totally shameless.
"M. Kouchner is coming to London shortly, to speak at the
LSE on Monday 27th
November. He should be asked questions by LSE students, who
should not sit
respectfully like good Germans, as they did when Jamie Shea
arrived last
time.
"These NATO apologists, including LSE prof Mary Kaldor &
Judge Richard
Goldstone, who headed up the so called independent Kosovo
Commission of
Enquiry, have blood on their hands: Mary Kaldor's 'good friend',
Jamie Shea
promised NATO troops & police at every street corner, to
preserve minority
rights, after the so called 'liberation' of Kosovo.
What is the value of such empty NATO promises now? "

Dear Sir Christopher.
I complain about BBC coverage in relation to the Kosovo crisis,
at least
from the time I began to take an interest in the region, which
was from
February 1999.
It appears to me that the Corporation has expressed a degree of
bias &
partisanship as to disqualify it from being a public service
broadcaster.
As you are in breach of your obligations to the public and to
Parliament I
really wonder why I should pay any license fee.
During the Kosovo war I wrote a number of letters to the BBC
complaining at
BBC disinformation, censorship, & propaganda, & when I
failed to receive
adequate responses complained to the Broadcasting Standards
Council, (BSC).
I attach herewith a letter I sent to the BSC detailing various
breaches of
journalistic ethics by the Current
Affairs Staff. The BSC replied that they had no mandate to
investigate
failings in news reporting & interpretation.
The misuse of the BBC's position was both in the
misrepresentation of news
stories & in the failure to report events. For example, when
in May 1999 I
went to Haringey Magistrates to apply for a summons against the
PM & other
NATO leaders first the BBC expressed great interest in the story:
it was
then killed stone dead.
What happened to me at the Court that morning ( - MI6, or at
least some
spook, arriving & insisting she sit with me during the in
camera
application, having already squared the stipendiary Magistrate),
makes a
story in itself, & were this happening in Chile, or
Milosevic's Yugoslavia,
one would imagine a great deal of BBC interest.
In the end only the local freesheet reported the case. It was
newsworthy &
in the public interest that you should have broadcast something
about my
allegations.
Time goes by. Milosevic is overthrown, (with the German Govt
admitting it
gave £7million to the Opposition funnelling it through the Red
Cross -
another newsworthy story not mentioned.) But the BBC learns
nothing.
Sunday night 15th October on the Westminster Hour on Radio 4
Andrew Rawnsley
said the Serbs were uncivilised. Thankfully Rawnsley's position
is not
shared by everyone in the BBC: it appears that John Humphries
& Tim
Sebastian , (the latter did a magnificent job a few days ago
interviewing
George Robertson on 24 Hours TV) have taken over the role of HM
Loyal
Opposition, at least in terms of asking questions of the
executive which the
public want answering.
In this sense John Humphries & Tim Sebastian occupy in the
broadcast media
the position columnists like AN Wilson, Simon Jenkins, Auberon
Waugh,
Stephen Glover, & Boris Johnson & others occupy in the
print media:
opposition to the NATO war.
But the editorial line of the major newspapers remains that the
Kosovo
bombardment was a great civilising venture: in like
manner the BBC isolate people like Humphries & Sebastian
& the new credo is
that Robertson & Cook aren't to be interrupted.
Air time should be given to explore the diplomatic history. The
BBC has
not yet given us a single programme telling the public why the
war happened.
The Rambouillet draft accords & the now notorious Appendix B
have never been
examined on the BBC.
The Alan Little programme "Moral Combat" went some way
in that direction but skated over Rambouillet. What is there to
hide? Or,
what is the BBC hiding for the Government? Answer: a mighty lot.
CANA is part of a wider campaign for justice for the peoples of
Yugoslavia
&asserts the need for a full public expose of the true nature
of the
negotiations at Rambouillet & the release of biodata on CIA
agent William
Walker. (He headed up the monitoring force in Kosovo &
arranged the Racack
Massacre.)
I think it's about time Panorama journalists started knocking on
a few doors
at the Pentagon or Foggy Bottom, & nearer home at Number 10,
asking the
sortof questions asked of suspects in the Omagh bombing. It was
courageous
of
your journalists to investigate suspected bombers who live in the
Irish
Republic. I think they have a similar duty to investigate those
who occupy
high office here, guilty men who conspired to unleash aggressive
war &
bombed passenger trains & television stations & polluted
our common European
home with ten tons of DU with a half life of 4.5million years.
At stake is an issue of public morality involving questions of
life & death
for future generations & the ecological devastation of a
whole region. What
sort of people do this? Answer: not pig farmers, but middle class
lawyers
posing as humanitarian crusaders, every bit as dangerous as IRA
or UVF
thugs.
Yesterday I received a copy of the indictment of the NATO war
lords from a
Serbian Court. Looking at the long list of dead & injured I
realised that
now I'm in the position of being a citizen of the Irish Republic
during the
recent Troubles. Only this 'Irish Republic' draws its boundaries
a bit
wider, & takes in all of western Europe & north America.
Within this refuge
politicians are immune from the rule of law & get away with
any crime, as
long as they claim it's political.
I want to know why the BBC has not told us the truth about the
NATO air war,
its causes & consequences.

today 20th
February
to the Swedish media + an appeal to Swedish
Parliamentarians: "Last
week I issued a press release to the Swedish media in which I
accused
the Swedish Government: (1) of
endorsing genocide in Yugoslavia, (2) of
having betrayed the Swedish tradition of neutrality
+
the inheritance of Dag Hammersjkold, &
(3)
by its pro NATO pro EU policies & its stance in supporting
the bombing
of Yugoslavia & the participation of the Swedish military in
what is not a
peace keeping operation but a colonial occupation, of
having
undermined faith in international institutions & the rule of
law - Unfortunately my criticisms
were proven correct, in the most bloody manner
imaginable, in a massacre which occurred @ Podujevo on February
16th. The first reports coming from
correspondents subject to NATO
censorship said 7 Serbs had died, but the Italian press reported
another
massacre of Serbs the same day at Strpce with a further 4 Serb
deaths. The London Times yesterday
morning 19th February reported 11 Serbs had died
in
the Podujevo massacre, which gives credenceto the Italian
media reports
that
there were actually two such massacres.
When
I first heard about the Podujevo Massacre I issued a press
release
attacking NATO. The security methods were entirely inadequate
& the NATO
so called peacekeepers should have been on the bus.
I
later heard it was Swedish troops who were charged with the
ensuring the
security of the bus paasengers. I suspect
they knew a bomb was going to go off, & that's why they
stayed off
the bus, & if they didn't know, why didn't
they know. Where is the much vaunted NATO intelligence operation?
I
was so outraged by this incident, in which as well as the dead
there are
40 or so injured, that I sent an e mail to the
garrison at
Pristina telling them to come home. I attach a
copy of this e mail to KFOR HQ. In this
appeal to the Swedish media & to Swedish churches & to
Swedish
Parliamentarians I call on the Swedish Government now to
repudiate the
policy of humanitarian
war, which has made the world a dangerous place, has accelerated
ethnic
cleansing, & has created a terrible
precedent in international affairs, so that the US & UK now
feel obliged to
bomb virtually any country they like, in this last instance Iraq,
& the
political leadership of the US & UK apparently now sincerely
believe
that any democratic or legal scrutiny of their foreign
policy decisions is
inappropriate. I repeat again what I said
last week: the Swedish Government & people have
betrayed the distinctive legacy of peace & mediation in
favour of
participating in an aggressive coalition whose foreign policy
adventures &
militarism hasn't stopped with Yugoslavia.
Meanwhile
Serbs die, with only token protestations of grief from the
incompetent Swedish commanders whose job it was to
protect them. NATO & all Swedish
imperialists should get out of the Balkans.

Sir, I am not alone in thinking that the
success of the KLA in terms of
massacring Serbs & others at will is due to an implied
compact between
KFOR & the KLA, whereby only nominal protection is afforded
to the Serb &
Roma people. I have already sent to the
White House, to the Secretary of State & leaders
of the pro life movement in the US our dissatisfaction with your
impotence
as a security force. why were there not KFOR troops in any of the
buses
blown up yesterday? The answer
is clear. You had prior warning of the attack & chose only to
provide nominal protection to these people.

see this statement issued yesterday. Can you deny
complicity in these terrible events? You are the
ones protecting the KLA & allowing them to kill Serbs at
will.
You cannot function as an effective security force & had best
go home.
NATO COMPLICIT IN KLA TERROR A PRO LIFE ISSUE: US SHOULD STOP ENDORSING GENOCIDE
Press statement - 16th February 2001
On
the BBC PM programme this afternoon I heard the news of the
deaths of 6
Serbian people in Kosovo + about 40 injured as the result of an
explosion
under a road. I don't know the precise
details, not having any further information @ the
present time, but still it is astonishing to me that no NATO
troops were
killed or injured in the attack, (at least the BBC didn't mention
any such
casualties from KFOR.) As NATO was
supposed to be protecting these Serbs we are entitled to ask:
where were these protectors? How can a
convoy be protected without the protecting troops being in
relative close proximity? The
protection appears not to be comprehensive, evidently falling
short in
that the guardians were not willing to take casualties in
fulfilment of
their mission. The protection afforded was only nominal.
The
fact that NATO troops were not impacted by the full force of the
explosion probably indicates NATO had received prior warning that
such
an explosion was to be expected. The KLA
wanted to avoid a situation where KFOR troops were casualties,
&
consequently gave warning to NATO troops, so they could get out
of the way. This is obvious.
This
last outrage indicates yet again the fluency of Jamie Shea's
lies. During the NATO humanitarian war he
promised UN Police would be at every
street corner to protect the Serbs. It is clear
that NATO is not only failing to protect the Serbs, but in
practical terms acts in cahoots with the KLA, a terrorist
organisation which
NATO is not prepared to suppress, which isn't surprising when one
reflects
that NATO went to war to further its aims & David Holbrook
had a meal with
its bloodthirsty leaders. NATO
continues to supply the KLA with heavy weaponry & explosives,
or at
least turns a blind eye to the supply of such weaponry coming
primarily
from German sources. I believe
that this is a pro-life issue. A pro life
philosophy must be holistic supporting the sanctity of human life
from conception until natural death. It's clear
NATO has no regard for the sanctity of human life, not if those
lives are Serbian. The US media
have de-humanised the Serbs, yet NATO cannot
justify its acquiescence in this genocide simply by reference to
Milosevic's
supposed moral defects. Already
almost 100 churches have been destroyed or desecrated in Kosovo
since NATO entered the province, some of immense cultural value
& destroyed
under the watching eyes of US troops, who were ordered not to
protect such,
nor to apprehend those responsible. Is the
United States prepared to continue in its role of protecting
terrorists & endorsing this genocide of the indigenous
Serbian people of
Kosovo? Britain is prepared to
continue in this role - Mr Blair, + those political
leaders of France, Italy, Germany & Canada who co-operated
with the US
military in the March 99 NATO bombardment seem indifferent to how
many Serbs die, either in Kosovo or anywhere else.
But
we expect another policy from Mr Bush, which is why I am sending
a copy of this press release to the State Department & to the
US
President & Vice President, as well as to the Federal
President of
Yugoslavia.
Effective protection should be afforded to the Serbs of Kosovo. If it cannot be provided by the NATO/EU/UN force then KFOR should withdraw, & allow the Yugoslav Army to do the job. ends

ATTACK
ON SWEDISH GOVERNMENTAL SUPPORT FOR GENOCIDE OF
SERBS IN KOSOVO
William
Spring CANA Director has accused the Swedish Government of
supporting the genocide of the Serbian & Roma peoples of
Kosovo & issues the
following media statement today 14th Feb:
"In
a letter to the Most Reverend Bishop of Great Britain and
Scandinavia I
request the Bishop to inform the Faithful in the Serb diaspora in
Sweden
about our upcoming Conference/ Day of Truth on Yugoslavia.
"In
the letter I state: "we
remain shocked at the support given to the ethnic cleansing of
the
Serbian people from Kosovo by the Swedish Prime Minister, who
seems to have
abandoned every tradition for which Sweden was once known, and
respected
throughout the world, and in particular support for the United
Nations.
"We
believe bygones should be bygones: but accompanied by a proper
recognition of sin and a willingness by NATO to pay reparations
to the
Serbian Government, and also to the many other victims of the
NATO action in
other parts of the world.
"NATO
has left a contaminated arms dump in Kosovo, exporting
radioactive
waste from the US to other people's back yard.
"It
is our common European home, which has been thus polluted; the
habitat
of which we are but custodians under God."
William Spring comments: 'I feel the situation is quite desperate.
'A
bunch of humanitarian gangsters drop cluster bombs all over
Yugoslavia &
contaminate the land & water resources with so called
'depleted' uranium,
& sit idly by while absolutely priceless cultural heritage
sites are
despoiled & desecrated, & an entire ethnic community
wiped out or turned into
refugees, then these same humanitarian gangsters, (in which group
I include
the British & Swedish Prime Ministers, + the Butcher of the
Balkans, Janvier
Solana, + the failed deadbeat former MP for Bath, the last satrap
of
Britain's last colony, one Chris Patten), they all walk
away...move on to
other things, placing the exclusive blame for their own
irresponsible &
criminal actions on Milosevic.
'In
particular I feel the Scandinavian political leaders have a lot
to
answer for- at one time the Swedish Government represented the
conscience of
the world, representing the now lost cause of international law
& were the
main supporters of the UN.
By
its support of the genocide of the Serb & Roma peoples of
Kosovo, & its
endorsement of other NATO/EU actions in relation to Yugoslavia,
the Swedish
Government has entirely failed to adhere to this necessarily
valuable
